| An employee or
dependent may be entitled to Extended Health Care, Dental, and
Vision & Hearing benefits from both Edmonton Catholic
Schools' plan and another group plan.
If duplication occurs, the benefits under this plan will be
co-ordinated so benefits from all plans will not exceed the total
expenses.
Which
Benefit Plan is the First Payer:
- If
the claim is for you, your group plan would be the first payer
and your spouse's plan would be the second payer.
- If
the claim is for a spouse, your spouse's plan would be the first
payer and your plan would be the second payer.
- If
the claim is for a depended child, you must first
determine which parent's birthday occurs earliest in the calendar
year regardless of age. For example, if the Mother's birthday is January 3,
and
the father's birthday is January 8, claims for dependent children
would go to the mother's plan first and the father's plan second.
For
divorced or separated parents, the claim is submitted first to the
plan of the custodial parent.
If you
or your spouse are over age 65, Alberta Health & Wellness will
be the first payer for all family members.
Employee group plans will be the second payer.
