You are provided with a variety of Health Benefits and Vacation Schedules according to your employee group. All employees have access to the Employee & Family Assistance Plan.

Health Benefits

You can obtain information on your Health Benefits in a number of ways. You can access information by:

  • Accessing the Health Benefits section of this Human Resources web page. 
  • Reviewing your Collective Agreement or Out of Scope Terms and Conditions of Employment as follows:  
  • Calling Benefits Facilitator at 441-6052 or Alberta Health Care can be accessed by calling 427-1432 or visiting their web site at: www.health.gov.ab.ca/.

Vacations

Your Vacation schedule is dependent not only your employees group but the length of your work and also on your full time equivalent. The following will show you the vacation schedule for your group.

ECSSA

Employees in twelve-month positions may take their vacations in conjunction with departmental needs. Ten month employees are required to take their vacations at times when school is not in session such as Christmas, March Break and other non school/non statutory holidays.

ATA

Vacations for Teachers are determined through a combination of Collective Bargaining and the School Act.

Employee and Family Assistance Plan

Your Employee and Family Assistance Plan is in place to help you and you family during emotionally troubling times. Following a consultation with the EFAP provider, you can be directed to a professional from issues you are trying to deal with in areas such as:

  • on the job problems which have a way of interfering with home life
  • marital problems

  • alcohol or drug abuse issues

  • problems with your children

  • personal emotion issues such as depression or suicidal feelings
