Maternity: This leave type gives females a leave of up seventeen weeks of which some must be before and after the time of the delivery of their newborn. Further details can be seen in the Employment Standards Code.

Professional Development
ECSSA,    ATA & Out of Scope
Leaves for the advancement of personal education.
 
  
General Leaves

 

ATA
Used by the ATA for leaves to include professional, community or private activities. This is not duplicated with other leaves for compounding purposes.
 
 
Special Leaves

 

ATA
Used by ATA for Jury Duty, Court Leaves, Leave on the day of birth/adoption of child, compassionate leave, leaves to attend to personal matters. This is not duplicated with other leaves for compounding purposes.
 
 
Union Leave

 

AUPE, ATA & ECSSA

 

Leave usually for members of the Local executive in which to attend to union/association matters outside of the workplace. Includes education forums, conferences, workshops and other union/association-sponsored events. Can also involve extended absences from the Board to attend to union / association positions for education purposes.
 
  
Compassionate Leave

 

All groups
Leave provided to attend the funeral/ period of grieving as a direct result of the loss of a relative as defined in the respective agreement.
 
   
Family Illness Leave

 

ECSSA, AUPE & Out of Scope
Leave to attend to the severe illness of a family member. The length and terms of Compassionate Leave is tied to the terms of compassionate leave.
 
 
Jury Duty or Witness Duty

 

ECSSA, AUPE & Out of Scope

 

To attend to Court or other investigatory matter as a result of receiving a subpoena or other Court order to attend to Court proceedings.
